Entering the equestrian community and drawing interest and attention of the US citizens toward new equestrian sports is always difficult, specially Tent Pegging, which is an ancient and allian equestrian sport to the US equestrin community and the USTPF is not hesitant to admit that it was not an easy task to accomplish. Dr. Asim Shahzad Malik took the responsibility to promote Tent Pegging in the United States of America because of his personal interest in Tent Pegging.
Dr. Malik initially, discussed the idea introducing Tent Pegging in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area with his sons Mr. Shaham Asim Malik and Mr. Mugheerah Asim Malik - (Late - 02/28/2023) at home and then with Ms. Shelly Lynn Brown who board's her horse at the same facility where Dr. Malik board's his three horses. Ms. Brown really liked the idea and she discussed this idea with her family and her daughter Ms. Chelse Benton who showed her interest for Tent Pegging as well.
All the events took place one after other and the discussion kept on going via Skype, phone and Viber between Mr. Shaham Malik and Ms. Brown and finally when Dr. Malik returned to the USA upon his Christmas vacation they all met at Ms. Brown's house and discussed the establishment of the United States Tent Pegging Federation (USTPF) as a National Governing Body (NGB) for Tent Pegging in the USA.
On the 30th day before the last day of December 2013, Dr. Malik registered the United States Tent Pegging Federation, Inc. (USTPF) as an NGB for Tent Pegging with the Secretary of States; for the State of Oklahoma. Once the USTPF was registered with State of Oklahoma; Dr. Malik contacted Ms. Jena Copley (Ex-Corospandant of the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) on the same day, which resulted the news on the ITPF website regarding the incorporation of USTPF.
This was an encouraging moment for Dr. Malik and rest of the founding board, followed practical applications of the Tent Pegging in the USA by the USTPF including many people throughout the USA.
